Mingle Monday Remix

Happy Monday everyone! :)

Hope your day is not the Manic Mondays that we all love to hate.  If it is, you should definitely check out my awesome friends blog over at Life of Meg.

She has been doing her Mingle Monday's for a while now, but she has done a bit of tweaking and it is awesome! So get your blogger booties in gear and see what all the fuss is about.

A great way to meet new bloggers and find some amazing new blogs!

Oh no she di'int...

Sadly, yes.  Yes, I did.

I bought a Shake Weight.  I am writing this as I hang my head in shame.  I was even embarrassed when I purchased this at the Bed Bath and Beyond store.  I tried to go the line with no other customers and ran out as soon as I could.

But, you know what?  My arms are sore after the first day.  So, maybe it does work?  Now, I know one try is not a very good indicator.  It could just be that I haven't used those muscles in a while and I just wasted 15 bux.  ( I had a coupon, I don't think I could pay full price for this)

The biggest I reason I purchased this is because it was in my SELF magazine.   They even said they saw the SNL spoof, but that it did have some results behind the silliness  So, here I am.  Doing very provocative moves to try and gain more toned arms.

I will be keeping you updated on my (if any) progress with this and if I recommend this you all.  Oh, and I am including the SNL spoof, because well, it is too funny not to include.

Some like it hot.

So. Hot.

Looks like we are heading into the dog days of summer here.  I believe 110 with the heat index today.  It's so steamy that my windows on my house were steaming!

So, I just wanted to perk myself up, be positive and try to survive!  Here are a few things I like to do to keep cool.

Drink fun pretty beverages.

Pool it up!

Online Shopping!
Yes folks, when it is so hot that your car a/c can't keep up and the temp is the about the same inside and out.

Frozen Grapes!
Yes, frozen grapes, such a great tasty treat that also keeps you cool and helps you stay poolside sexy.(Just took this picture at work, but I'm on lunch so it's all good) They are now safely in my belly.

What are some of your favorite stay cool activities?

Staycation

Ok, so I have been slacking on my blog posts.  I do apologize for that.  Watch out though, I am ready to do some make up work here.

A few weeks ago I took vacation days, which was awesome! My mother - in -law (which I will call "momil" since I have no patience to type it the other way) came over and hung out for a few days.  I believe there was a collective groan from you guys.  Yes, I know, usually when a momil comes over there is always a sense of impending doom.

Not so much at the Kimchee household, I actually look forward to her visits.  No, I am not crazy,  I am very blessed with the fact that I have awesome in laws.

While she was here we went and ate at Garozzo's here in downtown KC.  It was UH-mazing, as always.  Yes folks this is not your Olive Garden "Italian".

She helped us finish painting the trim inside our house.  (We have a pretty high ceilings.)

We went to the city market.

Found this antique shop that sold, well everything.  Apparently, as long as an item is old, it is "antique".  I was very tempted to purchase a circa 1980's prom dress, with the poofy sleeves and all.

Had two 4th of July parties.  One at my sis in laws and then one at our house.

It was basically Food Fest 2010.  Which, I'm not complaining, but the scale groaned a bit louder after that week.

To sum it up, awesome "staycation".

What the French Toast????

Sigh.

I don't know why I am surprised when I see something like this.

Really?  Why don't you just drink straight from the bottle?  Or is that not tasteful, but pouring a whole bottle of wine into a glass, and then drinking the whole thing is very classy.  The woman in the ad seems to be laughing as if she can't believe this item is real either.

I have yet to watch the video online.  I don't know if I want to.

Would you purchase this?  I can't hate on anyone who would though, I am a sucker for some of those infomercial items out there.  Such as the shake weight.  (Yes, I know.)  There will be a blog posting about that coming soon.

I also curious about the type of person who came up with this idea.  I am also upset that I didn't come up with it first and made a truckload of cash.  Such as the snuggie or the slanket.  You know what I'm talking about.

Ain't no Challah back girl...

Let me tell you a story.  This is a story about a beautiful loaf of challah bread that turned into an even more beautiful piece of french toast.

I have never heard of using challah for french toast until this year.  I have been on the hunt ever since, and think I have found it.  At the city market, at Bloom Bakery in Kansas City.  They have the best challah I have tried so far.  So this story is not about just french toast, no my friends, this is french toast stuffed with a cream cheese filling.

I got this recipe from Tasty Kitchen, and of course you can use whatever fruit you want and I even made this with the loaf of italian bread and it came out very good as well.

Let me just show you what I did:

Ok, just had to post this picture, I mean come on people!  I know you want to lick the screen, go ahead, it'll our little secret.

Now, cut the bread into pretty big chunks and then cut a slit in the middle so you can put the yummy filling:

Now take your cream cheese, please make sure it is softened and room temperature, you can mix it better with your strawberry preserve.  I also, cut about a half pint of strawberries and let them sit in sugar before I started cooking.  Some may say it's overkill with the sweetness, but I couldn't care less.

Then stuff your bread (hhmm, maybe a "That's what she said" moment right there).   I overstuffed mine (and another one), go big or go home people.

Mix all the "dunking" ingredients together, I added 1/4 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract. Because we needed even more sweetness added right?

After whisking these ingredients together, dunk your stuffed french toast and let them sit on a plate until you have dunked all pieces.

Now cook!  Cook (with butter of course, no low-cal version here folks) on medium heat until everything is heated through and the outside of the bread is a nice golden brown.  Then, top it off with syrup, any remaining sweetened strawberries and powdered sugar.  (I think I just got a cavity from writing this post.)

Viola!

Go make this now!  I hope you have enjoyed this post, I am now officially hungry, again.  This is definitely going to become a staple in my weekend breakfast rotation!

Ok, so just had to add one more picture.  :)

Adventures in Etsy

Well, it has happened.

Not, only do I love to go look on Etsy for hours on end.  Literally, hours on end.  I have begun to sell things on this magnificent website as well.  I would almost venture to say this store is taking over my life, and I don't care.  Take me Etsy, take me somewhere glorious.

I like making things, so I thought, maybe people would want to buy what I make.  I only have a few items in my shop at the moment.  I hope to keep adding weekly, so keep checking back! I will probably be making mostly simple home decor items, and accessories, such as headbands and pins.  Maybe, I will venture out to bigger things later.   You can find my current items here, or on the sidebar.

I hope you enjoy my items, and if there are things you like that you just cant seem to find in the stores, shoot me a message through Etsy and I will see what I can come up with.  I am all about experimentation and trying new things.
